Brian G. Bissell
Senior Vice President, Client Advisor
Newport Beach, CA
Brian Bissell is a Senior Vice President, Client Advisor in the Orange County office of Whittier Trust. He provides a full range of wealth management, family office, philanthropic, real estate, and trust services.
Brian specializes in creating plans that help families achieve their long-term goals and objectives. The discussions often start with strategizing and finding creative ways to reduce a future wealth tax liability but never end without defining family values and realizing a greater purpose for the wealth. He helps ensure the wealth is a positive force within the family unit by developing governance structures that allow each individual member to thrive in their own unique ways throughout generations. His approach lends itself perfectly to families that own operating businesses and families that own shared assets within various entities.
He earned his MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business, where his focus was finance, and his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He is both a Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). In addition, he holds a Professional Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Investment from Harvard University.
Brian is a member of the Orange County Estate Planning Council and serves on the board of directors of numerous nonprofit organizations and businesses owned by the families he works with. While at Georgetown, he was a member of the national championship-winning sailing team, a three-time All-American and he was recently inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame. When he isn’t working, you can find him sailing in races such as the biennial Transpac or on a boat in Newport Harbor with his wife, two children, and dog.
